Our Story

One thing drives everything we do at Harper Tait - love.

We have a genuine and personal passion for our customers and our craft. We pride ourselves on superlative quality and customer service.

Because when you buy an engagement ring, wedding band, or piece of fine jewellery, we know you are celebrating something special. We love being part of such a moment in your life, and deliver the experience and quality this time deserves.

You’ll find us in Hatton Garden, in the heart of London’s renowned jewellery industry. Our location in this vibrant district gives us access to the most talented craftspeople and partners we could wish for.

All Harper Tait jewellery is made in the UK.

We call upon the best in our industry to craft our pieces, with a hand-selected network of talented craftspeople in the Birmingham Jewellery Quarter and Hatton Garden.

Ethics

Absolutely. Our work is all about looking to the future, so we take our impact on the world seriously. Read our full ethical promises here.

Yes! All our 18ct gold and platinum alloys are recycled as standard.

We can make any of our designs in fair trade gold. Please contact us [link to contact page] for a quote.

Our mined diamonds are guaranteed conflict free. We source our diamonds from close partners who guarantee their stones meet Kimberley Process standards.

Metals, Diamonds & Gemstones

We offer diamonds in VS clarity and D-F colour. You will love our beautiful diamonds, each eye clean with a bright white shade.

We hand-select each individual diamond for beauty and quality, and extend our exacting criteria to even the smallest diamonds.

We adore fancy diamonds! In addition to round brilliant cut stones we offer a full range of shapes, including princess, emerald, asscher, oval, radiant, marquise, pear and cushion.

Discover more about each shape in our Diamond shapes guide.

All diamonds over 0.60ct come with GIA certification. GIA is the most respected certification agency, so you can be confident in your purchase.

We do! All our items are available in your choice of natural diamond or lab diamond. Simply contact us if you’d like a quote for your options.

Lab, or lab grown diamonds, are real diamonds. The only difference is the origin - created above ground in a laboratory rather than naturally forming below ground. We do not sell synthetics or diamond simulants such as CZ or moissanite.

Read more about lab diamonds in our guide.

Coloured gemstones in engagement rings and fine jewellery are a beautiful way to add colour and express your personality.

With our network of expert coloured stone partners, we can individually source your perfect coloured stone(s).

If you’re not sure what gemstone to go for, we can advise. The beauty of coloured stones lies in their variety. We can help you choose a birthstone or symbolic stone, or work out which stones get you the most for your budget. Simply contact us

We offer all pieces in your choice of 18ct white gold, 18ct yellow gold, 18ct rose gold, or platinum.

Some rings are even available in two colours, such as a platinum setting with a rose gold shank. You’ll see this indicated on the product page.

For a bright white finish, we rhodium plate our 18ct white gold pieces after polishing. This coating will eventually fade, but replating is covered for life by our Lifetime Aftercare Promise [link to this section of the promise page].

Our18ct white gold alloy is a little special. We use a high palladium alloy, which is much whiter in colour than the creamy pale yellow of a standard 18ct white alloy. It means when your rhodium plating wears off, the metal underneath is still an attractive white shade and the difference in colour is not as noticeable.

If you’d like a pure white metal but would rather avoid plating, consider choosing platinum for your engagement and wedding rings.

18ct and 9ct refer to the purity of gold.

Pure gold is generally considered too soft and vibrant yellow in colour for most jewellery applications. So pure gold is mixed with other metals to give it the properties and colour suitable for jewellery.

These mixtures are called alloys. We also use alloys to get different colours of gold, such as rose and white gold.

We love 18ct gold, as it is perfect for precious jewellery. At 18 out of 24 parts gold, it is predominately gold yet strong and durable enough for your everyday-and-forever jewellery.

At 9 parts out of 24, 9ct gold is mainly made of non-precious metals. It is great for fashion or lifestyle pieces.

The Harper Tait Experience

Let us invite you to our beautiful, welcoming showroom in the heart of Hatton Garden. We will pour you a glass of something special, get to know you, and show you our jewellery.

Our consultation process is designed to make the experience of choosing your perfect engagement ring effortless and enjoyable.

Find out more about the Harper Tait experience or book your consultation.

Of course! We offer personal consultations via Zoom, phone, or email.

While we can’t pour you a glass of champagne, we’ll give you the same attentive and personal service you’d receive in-store. Book your online consultation.

If you join us in-store we will measure your ring size to get it right first time. Or, ask us to send you a free ring sizer.

If you’re trying to keep a proposal secret, try and find a ring your partner wears on that finger. Compare the ring to a printable ring size gauge [link if you have one], or bring it into us and we’ll tell you the size.

We offer free ring sizing for life, so if the ring you order is a little small or large we will happily fix this for you.

Although we offer resizing, this isn’t possible for all rings. It may not be possible to resize rings with diamond-set shoulders, or those which need to be resized more than two sizes up or down.

So, if you really aren’t sure about the size and want the proposal to be a surprise, talk to us - we have some ideas!

Your jewellery will arrive in our beautiful signature packaging, and the box it comes in is perfect for storage.

Remove your jewellery before swimming in the sea or chlorinated water, and avoid contact with household chemicals, make-up and perfume. To avoid damage, don’t wear your jewellery for manual activities such as DIY, cleaning, or going to the gym.

Diamond jewellery can be cleaned gently with a mild solution of soapy water and a soft cloth or toothbrush. Simply dry afterwards with a soft cloth or dedicated gold/platinum polishing cloth. Coloured gemstones may need specific care - we will advise on purchase, or contact us if you are not sure.

With our Lifetime Aftercare Promise, we offer free polishing and cleaning, helping you keep your pieces beautiful forever.

Its normal for your ring size to change over time, and we don’t want your precious pieces to be resigned to the jewellery box if it does! So when you purchase a ring with Harper Tait, we offer free ring sizing for life. Simply contact us to book in your appointment and we can get your professionally measured and sized.

Choosing Harper Tait for your wedding, engagement, or celebratory jewellery makes us part of your story.

This is a privilege, and so we promise to be there for you throughout the years to come.

We offer a full lifetime guarantee, as well as our Lifetime Aftercare Promise. Not only are you covered against all manufacturing faults, but we also keep your ring looking beautiful for life!
